Yahoo News The Boys confirmed to be ending with season 5
The Boys developer Eric Kripke has confirmed that the superhero show will conclude with its fifth season.
The Prime Video show is returning later this week (June 13) with its fourth season, continuing the story of Homelander (Antony Starr), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and co.
It was announced last month (May 14) that the show had been renewed for a fifth season, but showrunner Kripke confirmed today that it will be the show's final season - as per his original vision.

“#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!” he wrote on X/Twitter. “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
The post contained a photo of spec script for the season four finale ‘Assassination Run’, though nearly all of the content had been redacted. At the end of the script lies a message, which reads: “See you for our final season, motherf**kers.”
The renewal of the fifth season last month was welcomed by Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, as he said: “The Boys is an unabashed and bold series that continues captivating our customers all over the world by piercing the cultural fabric season after season.
“We are proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise, and we are thrilled that Eric Kripke and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell for all the loyal fans.”

Whilst The Boys is set to conclude next year, spin-off series Gen V is currently in production for its second season. The show, which focuses on young superheroes, will undergo a change in its sophomore season following the death of Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson.
After producers and fellow cast members paid tribute to the actor, it was revealed that his character would not be recast, with Kripke stating that a storyline in the second season would “honour” Perdomo’s legacy.
The Boys season 4 premieres its first three episodes this Thursday (June 13) on Prime Video, with new episodes weekly. Seasons 1-3 and spin-off Gen V are also streaming on Prime Video.
