The Boys spin-off "more shocking" than original series

The Boys producer Seth Rogen has teased that spin-off Gen V will be more "shocking" than the original series.

Rogen serves as an executive producer for the Prime Video show and its upcoming off-shoot, which is set to premiere later this year.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Rogen spoke about the series, set concurrently with the fourth season of The Boys, and revealed that the writers weren't holding anything back.

“Gen V has some really crazy shit in it. The fact that they're in college, they're a little younger, makes it more shocking maybe," he said.

"In general, if you're making an R-rated thing, they let you do whatever you want, unless there's some real legal thing that they think you might be bumping against."

"With The Boys, maybe it requires one extra five-minute phone call, where they're like, 'Really?', and you're like, 'Really'. There are other things you're on hours of phone calls about that are so much less interesting than that," Rogen added.

Starring Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo and Lizze Broadway, Gen V follows "young adult superheroes as they are tested in battle royale challenges at Vought International’s Godolkin University School of Crimefighting".

Whilst the spin-off is set to air towards the end of the year, The Boys is gearing up for its return with the fourth season, with Simon Pegg recently outlining his role as Hugh Sr in the next batch of episodes.

"You know how crazy The Boys is? It's gonna get crazier. I had so much fun on that show. It was so great to go back and play Hugh Sr. I love Jack [Quaid]," he said.

"I'm in about four episodes, and it was a joy to be back. It's a great crew — they are an amazing bunch of people."

The Boys seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video. Season 4 is in production. Gen V will air on Prime Video later this year.
