Bradley Walsh, the host of The Chase, has been revealing some backstage secrets about the ITV show and taking a dig at the 'precious' stars.

The host of the iconic gameshow confesses his enjoyment in teasing the Chasers during filming, stating "a bit of self-deprecating humour never hurt anybody," but also discloses a significant secret about the intelligent quizzers' retorts.

Bradley talks about "precious presenters" and the new series of Beat The Chasers, as well as letting a few secrets out. In this series, a new group of brave - or possibly foolhardy - celebrities will be testing their general knowledge against the infamous Chasers in hopes of winning big for charity.

The celebrities stepping up to the challenge this time include restaurant critic and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Grace Dent, BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt, ex-footballer David James, designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and former Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati, reports the Mirror.

They'll each have to go head-to-head with all the Chasers Mark Labbett, Jenny Ryan, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Shaun Wallace, and Darragh Ennis. As always, it's host Bradley who will be keeping an eye on the quiz and observing how the stars cope when pitted against some of the sharpest minds on TV.

Bradley shared that he loves to tease the Chasers on air. "I love winding them all up," he confessed.

"The one I have most fun with is Shaun, the Dark Destroyer. It's because we both love our football. We're exactly the same age well, he's two days older than me. I just adore him."

Yet, the playful banter between Bradley and the brainy bunch isn't always off-the-cuff; in fact, Bradley revealed that the Chasers sometimes get a helping hand with their sharp retorts. He told OK! magazine: "They sort of have pops at me, but a bit of self-deprecating humour never hurt anybody."

It turns out the Chasers aren't always the brains behind their own jokes. Bradley gave credit to the writer who crafts some of their quips aimed at him, saying: "We've got a writer called Adam Bostock Smith.

"He writes their gags to have a go at me. Some of them are really funny, it actually makes me laugh. We know it's just banter there's no point in getting yourself wound up like some presenters I know who are just so precious, it's frightening!"

While he didn't name names regarding the presenters he considers too sensitive, Bradley did let slip his dream line-up for celebrity contestants on the show, expressing his hope to see Rick Astley, Hannah Waddingham, and Danny Jones join the ranks of those facing the Chasers in the celebrity editions of the ITV quiz show.
