Bradley Walsh has revealed that an audience member gave birth on the set of his Gladiators reboot.

Walsh hosts the BBC revival of the classic sports entertainment show alongside his son, Barney.

Speaking recently to OK!, the father-son duo shared that an audience member went into labour while the cast and crew were filming the new series.

"One lady in the audience, her waters broke during filming. She gave birth there," Barney revealed. "So we had a Gladiators baby!"

Walsh added: "That's absolutely true — that actually did happen!"

Barney also spoke about the family aspect of the show, with himself and Walsh not being the only dad-and-son pairing present during filming.

"We saw that in the arena when the families were bringing the kids and they were excited to see all of the Gladiators and get their signatures," Barney said.

"I think the beauty of us doing it as a pair is that it's a complete generational thing. And the people who watched the original Gladiators are all grown up with children of their own."

Bradley added: "It's come full circle now. And it’s lovely to be working with Barns again.

"We had to talk him into it! Oh, yeah, we had to talk about it because we've done so much Breaking Dad, and I'm sick to death of getting thrown off buildings by him and stuff like that. But we said, 'Yeah we'll do a one off'."

The new series of Gladiators will introduce brand-new games and feature classic ones such as Duel, Hang Tough and the infamous Eliminator, which will end each episode.

Gladiators will premiere on Saturday, January 13 at 5.50pm on BBC One and Player.
