Multiple emergency services were called to Braunstone over concerns for a woman’s welfare. Police closed off roads and urged people to avoid the area for several hours after declaring an "incident".

The incident happened in Chesterton Walk, close to Braunstone Park, on Tuesday (April 30) after crews from East Midlands Ambulance Service were first called to the scene at around 11.30am. That followed concerns for the welfare of a woman in a property in the area.

Ambulance crews then requested help from both Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Two fire appliances, one from Southern Fire Station and one from Western Fire Station, were dispatched to the scene.

The nature of the call led to police closing off Chesterton Walk and urging people to avoid the area where possible. Closures remained in place for several hours before police gained entry to the address.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson confirmed the woman was now being taken to a place of safety. They said: “Police were called to an address in Chesterton Walk just before 11.30am today by the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“The call concerned the welfare of a woman. Shortly before 4.45pm, officers entered the property and the woman will be taken to a place of safety.”

Road closures in Chesterton Walk were lifted by 5.15pm. Officers thanked the public for their patience.
