Brazilian Army Builds Temporary Bridge for Community Hit by Flooding

Soldiers in Rio Grande do Sul began building a pedestrian crossing over the Rio Pardo, in Candelaria, on Thursday, May 16, after the town’s main bridge was destroyed by flooding.

The Rio Grande do Sul Military said the area was one of the areas worst affected by the flooding.

The local bridge, over the Rio Pardo, will take up to four weeks to repair, local news said.

The death toll from the flooding in Rio Grande do Sul had risen to 151 by Thursday, May 16, officials said. More than two million people have been impacted. Credit: Comando Militar do Sul via Storyful
