Chelsea have completed the signing of Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa for a fee of £19m.

Kellyman made his senior debut in the 3-0 Europa Conference League win over Hibernian last season, before he penned a contract extension. He then suffered a hamstring injury, before making his Premier League debut in Villa's 4-1 defeat against Manchester City.

The 18-year-old also scored seven goals in 11 Premier League 2 matches last term and continued to impress Unai Emery in training at Bodymoor Heath. It is understood that Villa will be in the clear regarding Profit and Sustainability Rules after Douglas Luiz's transfer to Juventus, but of course, selling an academy product for a sizeable fee reflects well on the balance sheet.

Kellyman joined Villa from Derby County for a reported £600,000 fee in July 2022 and signed his first professional contract with them in September 2022.

Villa sold Carney Chukwuemeka to Chelsea for £20m in the summer of 2022, while Tim Iroegbunam moved to Everton for £9m earlier this week. Nottingham Forest are interested in signing versatile defensive midfielder Lamare Bogarde too.

Meanwhile, Ian Maatsen has joined Villa from Chelsea for a fee of £37.5m after the two clubs struck an agreement last week.
