Hereford and South Herefordshire election result revealed

THE winner of the general election in Hereford and south Herefordshire has been announced.

Jesse Norman of the Conservative Party has taken a majority and held the seat, although only by around 1,000 votes.

Joe Emmett of the Labour party was close behind on 13,592 votes, only around 1,300 less than Norman's result of 14,871.

The declaration comes as Labour are set to achieve a huge landslide across the UK.

Labour candidate Joe Emmett lost out to Mr Norman, the Conservative incumbent, despite the huge volume of Labour seats taken across the country.

The other candidates' results were:

• Nigel Ely (Reform UK): 8395

• Dan Powell (Liberal Democrats): 5325

• Diana Toynbee (Green Party): 3175

• Mark Weaden (Independent): 214

This means that Reform have come in third places in both of the county's constituencies.

Norman's fellow Conservative Sir Bill Wiggin lost his seat in north Herefordshire, with Dr Ellie Chowns taking the victory in the north of the county.
