A stunning immersive experience has taken over Central London, right next to a busy Tube station. The Butterfly Trail has been described as 'mixed reality', as huge screens show hundreds of butterflies flitting around inside a fantastical greenhouse.

The screens wrap around a large space just opposite Tottenham Court Road station, and best of all, it's free to enter. The Butterfly Trail also has a whimsical side, as the butterflies leave glowing trails behind them, and occasionally burst together into a huge display of sparkles.

But it's not just something to stand and stare at - it's interactive too. You can connect to the installation through your phone, where you can explore the butterflies' Glass House and create real-time animations.

After connecting your phone to the installation, you can bring the butterflies to you. You can hold them in the palm of your hand, or watch them zoom around the room, controlled by you.

It's family-friendly too, as little explorers can also get involved with discovering new butterflies. However, it's important to check the schedule on the Outernet website to make sure it's playing.

The Butterfly House is located in the Now Building opposite Tottenham Court Road Station. For more information and opening times, visit the Outernet website here.
