Customers have called a former Wetherspoon pub that was put up for sale last year 'amazing' since it reopened under new ownership. The Black Country's Billiard Hall was one of 35 Wetherspoon pubs up for sale in early 2023.

The Billiard Hall can trace back its history in West Bromwich more than 100 years when it opened as a purpose-built snooker and billiard hall in 1913. It later became a pub but the establishment kept its name - and its original eye-catching facade outside.

And locals were devastated when it was faced with closure when Wetherspoon put it up for sale. However, it has since reopened under new ownership - and it seems that customers are loving the venue even more than before.

A raft of five-star reviews have been left on the Billiard Hall's Tripadvisor page since it reopened last summer. One visitor described it as 'amazing', while another said the new owners had 'really turned the place around'.

In June, Connor said: "Abba afternoon fantastic atmosphere. Great people Gaffers brilliant, stands no messing really turned the place around."

Rebecca visited in May and wrote: "I must say that since the change in ownership the atmosphere is amazing. All the staff are very friendly. They play music that caters to everyone. It is a great pub and the staff can’t do enough for you. I recommend this pub 100%."

While Emma posted in October: "We have been coming here for years but since the new management had taken over it seems to have gotten better! Great environment-food is great (red hot may I add) and drinks are great too! The manager always recognises us and is always so friendly-just a great environment really is."

And Pete added: "The new owners have improved the former Weatherspoon’s pub brightening up the pub making it a bright and inviting location for anyone to enjoy. The 6 of us grabbed a table in the corner and enjoyed the next 6 hours with a wide selection of draft beers/larger, wines and shots. We ordered food which was delicious. We will be back for another afternoon/evening of drinking, eating and great times with friends at a great location."
