Delighted Brendan Rodgers has named the key factors that has seen Celtic dominate derby day this term after seeing off Rangers.

The Scottish Premiership leaders took a massive step towards the league title as they saw off their 10-man rivals to move six points clear at the summit with just two games remaining. Celtic boast a superior goal difference over Philippe Clement's men and just need a point from their final fixtures to bring the trophy back to Glasgow's east end this term.

It means the Hoops boast an unbeaten record over Rangers so far this season - and Rodgers with just one defeat in Old Firm clashes in his two spells in the Parkhead dugout. After seeing off the Ibrox side, Rodgers was quizzed over if he has built the winning mentality on derby day, he told Sky Sports: "It's just confidence. These are such tense games.

"I pay tribute to the players because they started the game with crispness and quality of football was very, very good. But it comes from culture, it comes from mentality, it comes from the environment and that last bit is just sheer desire to not be outplayed and win the game. And the guys showed great mentality to win the game."

Kilmarnock are next on the agenda and Celtic could mathematically become Scottish champions at Rugby Park. Rodgers said: "It is there for us now. We have to go and win it. We can see the finish line we just have to get over it. The focus is on recovery and we got there on Wednesday and look to finish the job."
