Brick hurled from A66 bridge smashes into windscreen of passing truck in terrifying incident

A brick smashed into the windscreen of a passing truck after being hurled from an A66 bridge.

The terrifying incident occurred on Tuesday when a skip truck was driving beneath the pedestrian bridge, near to West Lane and Barnaby Avenue in Middlesbrough. The large rock smashed the vehicle's windscreen after being thrown around 2.20pm, leaving the vehicle needing to be recovered and repaired.

Cleveland Police has since launched a probe into the incident, with enquiries now ongoing to identify the person responsible for throwing the item. The force is asking anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage who could assist with the probe.

Investigating officer PC Richard Davison said: “Incidents like this can cause a collision and a serious injury, thankfully on this occasion the driver didn’t sustain any injuries however understandably he has been left shaken and disturbed by what happened. We are following numerous lines of enquiry to identify who is responsible and I am appealing to members of the public to come forward if they have information, CCTV or dash cam footage.” If you have information please contact the force on 101 quoting reference number 084010.
