Bridgwater has elected their new MP - and the Conservatives have held onto it The newly formed Bridgwater parliamentary constituency has shed its rural areas, which were previously part of the old Bridgwater and West Somerset seat.

Labour's Leigh Redman (who currently represents the Bridgwater North and central division on Somerset Council) was predicted to narrowly win the new Bridgwater seat, which also includes the coastal towns of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge. Mr Fox won the seat with Labout in second, and Reform in third place

Labour has traditionally polled well in Bridgwater itself, while the Conservatives have traditionally fared better in the more rural parts of the former Sedgemoor district.

The constituency has incorporated the coastal towns of Burnham-on-Sea and Brean in the north, formerly under the Wells constituency. The boundary adjustments also mean that the Hinkley Point C power station will no longer fall within the Bridgwater constituency, instead moving to Tiverton and Minehead.

Candidates from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Green Pary, Reform UK, and the Workers Party are standing, as well as an Independent
