A woman has been charged with murder after a man in his 60s was stabbed to death in what police are calling a "race hate crime".
The victim, from Easton in Bristol, died from a stab wound after being attacked in Grosvenor Road, St Paul's, on Friday afternoon. He was described by police as a "familiar and popular figure" in the area.
Avon and Somerset Police said: "His family are being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.
"The Major Crime Investigation Team is leading the inquiry and treating it as a race hate crime. The family has been offered assistance by Sari (Stand Against Racism & Inequality)."
Christina Howell, 36, from Easton, is due to appear before Bristol Magistrates' Court on Monday.
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Deepak Kenth said police were grateful to the community for their "prompt action" to help the injured man and support their investigation.
"You will still see an increased police presence in the area as our inquiries continue," he said.
