Bristol looks set to see its first ever 'Rave In The Sky' tonight (Thursday, July 11) as a local drum and bass DJ is taken up in a hot air balloon to take "their beats to the skies".

Hospitality, the global events arm of the leading UK drum & bass label Hospital Records, has teamed up with Bristol's summertime gig series, Siren and RIOT Noise ahead of the festival's drum & bass all-day rave (Hospitality on the Harbour) on August 3. Today, local Bristol DJ Anaïs will perform in an intimate setting for a group of lucky winners, as they rave above iconic Bristol landmarks.

Bristol is a city renowned both for its DnB scene, and also for its hot air balloons (the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is also taking place in August this year). Described as a once-in-a-lifetime rave in the sky, these competition winners will join Anaïs in the UK's biggest hot air balloon, provided by Hot Air Balloon Co.

Made possible with the support from RIOT Noise, a not-for-profit Social Enterprise company that 'champions and creates meaningful opportunities for new and emerging artists', the hot air balloon was originally planned to set off from Hospitality on the Harbour’s soon-to-be stage, Lloyds Amphitheatre, but will now lift off from Ashton Court Estate. The evening ascent will take winners on a 360 tour of the city, while the noise level is amped well up above the sound of the balloon’s burner. Building the ultimate anticipation for the Hospitality takeover, this hot air balloon rave officially kick-starts the countdown to Siren’s closing event.

Tom Hoyle, co-founder of Siren, said: “When you think of Bristol, a couple of things come to mind, and that’s an unbeatable nightlife, and hot air balloons. For us, this was a no brainer, and we can’t wait to bring Bristol’s first ever DnB rave in a hot air balloon to the skies!

"It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and what I love about Bristol is that it encourages you to make these wild ideas actually happen. We ran a competition for anyone to apply for a spot in the basket, and we were overwhelmed with the amount of responses we got.

"It’s truly going to be a day to remember, so keep your eyes to the skies on Thursday and spot the DnB balloon.”

Siren will see, not only Hospitality on the Harbour's event on August 3, but also girl group Sugababes play at the Amphitheatre on August 1. Tickets for Hospitality on the Harbour are available on the Siren website, with tickets on final release. Tickets for Siren’s Sugababes performance are also on sale at the same link.
