Jade Thirlwall narrowly avoided an embarrassing red carpet wardrobe malfunction at the Brit Awards.

The Little Mix star had to use her hands to preserve her modesty as she arrived at the O2 in a rather skimpy dress on Wednesday night.

Clearly worried that an ill-timed gust of wind might blow open her pink dress, the 24-year-old covered herself up as she walked into the ceremony.

Thirwall was joined by band mates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards on the red carpet, who all opted for 1990s-style throwback gowns.

The band, who are set to perform at the event, are also hoping to pick up a Brit Award after being nominated in categories including Best British Single and Best British Group.

Other stars who opted for daring red carpet attire including Ellie Goulding, who arrived at the ceremony in satin black gown with a cut-out front.

Rita Ora wore a khaki green embellished gown, complete with a train and wet-look hair.

Ed Sheehan looked like he’d taken style-inspiration from the Milk Tray Man, showing up in a black roll-neck and suit.

The Shape of You singer will also take to the stage during the ceremony as he gears up for his eagerly-awaited album release.

Other performers include Katy Perry, Robbie Williams and Foo Fighters, who are expected to announce that they will be headlining Glastonbury this year.

Calvin Harris and Rihanna are the favourites to win best British video for This Is What You Came For, while David Bowie is expected to posthumously win Best British Male Solo Artist.
