Britain's Got Talent viewers point out 'annoying' issue with ITV show

Viewers of Britain's Got Talent have been left bemused with an "annoying" issue. The beloved talent show returned to ITV for its 17th series on Saturday evening (April 20) and Sunday evening (April 21) with Simon Cowell joined by Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, along with hosts Ant and Dec.

Saturday night's highlights included two acts securing the illusive golden buzzers - gifted 28-year-old singer Sydnie Christmas, with her eyes set firmly on West End stardom, and a South Korean martial arts troop known by fans as Ssaulabi Performance Troupe.

Manchester Evening News reports Sunday's episode showcased a spellbinding performance from a ten-year-old dancer who was personally invited by the judges to audition for the show. Filmed footage captured young Trey Braine alongside former BGT stars Diversity when he was surprised by Amanda and Alesha with the thrilling news of his invite to participate.

Trey managed to win over all four judges during his audition, captivating the audience with his breakdancing routine which was accompanied by the pumping rhythm of DJ Khaled's All I Do Is Win.

He drew high praise especially from Alesha who described him as "the most delightful young man", adding: "You are 10 years old and you've got so much swag just in your little finger. You've got so much natural talent that's pouring out of you, so well done Trey."

Nonetheless, viewers seemed to be distracted by the manner in which the show was edited. Voicing their complaints on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, a number of fans were unimpressed with the recurrent cuts to the audience whilst an act was occurring.

The frequent use of slow-motion was also criticised. X user @liv_liv_liv__ aired her grievances saying: "The constant cutting to the audience is so ANNOYING especially when the act isn't a singer - paired with the unneeded slo mo sections it's all so badly edited #BGT". In similar annoyance, @derbitz lamented: #BGT disappointed we still have the slo mo and poor camera work/editing".

Meanwhile, @AjEasmons' disappointment took a different form, arguing: "When it comes to like dance or movement auditions, don't cut to audience or do a slow-mo, I wanna see everything! Well done Trey! #bgt".

@nigelfletcher bemoaned: "Is there a single #BGT performance that producers will allow us to watch and listen to, without a cutaway to the judges, audience or presenters reacting and commenting EVERY THREE SECONDS? It's one of my pet gripes and it's getting worse. That and the slow-mo interludes. Grrr."

Echoing others, @niaegregory tweeted: "I need the editors of Britain's Got Talent to STOP STOP STOP putting the slo-mo effect on during acts? ! I want to watch the act, not your over-produced version of the act #BGT" as followers continued to express their dissatisfaction.
