British Gas announces 'half price' electricity for customers 'on your next bill'

British Gas is giving customers the chance to join its new half-price energy saving scheme this summer. More than 600,000 British Gas customers have already benefited from the energy bill savings scheme as the Cost of Living crisis continues.

British Gas explains: "With PeakSave Green Flex events you get half-price electricity when we expect there’ll be lots of renewable energy available, so if it’s super sunny or windy." It adds: "They’re short, one or two-hour events where you can get your electricity for half price.

"And by moving your electricity use to when there’s likely to be lots of renewable energy around, you’re saving money and helping the planet. It’s a win-win!" You can only join PeakSave if you get your electricity from British Gas.

British Gas, which is rivalled by the likes of OVO, EDF, EON Next and Octopus, added: "We'd love you to join us and getting a quote is simple." British Gas, which has Centrica as its parent company, went on to say: "Booking your free installation is simple.

"Just log in to your account and see if there's an upgrade invitation. If not, check back regularly." It adds: "We expect there to be two or three Green Flex events per month, depending on how sunny or windy it gets in the UK. Events will run all the way to the Paris 2024 Games this summer."

It added: "After each event, we’ll credit half of what you spent back to your account and the payment will show up as 'PeakSave Green Flex Credit' on your next bill or online statement. It’ll normally appear within two weeks of each event ending."

Benefits include shining a light on your energy use and give customers a better understanding of which appliances use the most electricity in your home, the firm adds.
