British schoolgirl, 13, dies after being found unresponsive at Florida theme park

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded as a British schoolgirl tragically lost her life during a family trip to a theme park in Florida.

Tragedy struck when 13 year old Anna Beaumont from Cardiff in Wales was discovered unresponsive in a pool at Discovery Cove, Orlando on Tuesday, May 28. Orange County Sheriff's Office reported that despite being rushed to hospital in a critical condition, the youngster sadly passed away the following day.

Andrew Williams, the headteacher at Radyr Comprehensive where Anna studied, spoke with a heavy heart about the devastating impact of the news on the school community, going on to pay tribute to Annas life on BBC.

Speaking on behalf of the school community, Mr Williams stated: "The very thought of losing a child is an unimaginable journey and I know I speak on behalf of the whole school community when I say that our thoughts are with Anna's family as they try to come to terms with their loss."

Expressing how deep an imprint Anna left behind, he said: "Anna was a cherished member of our school family, and her absence will be profoundly felt by pupils, staff and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit, kindness and presence touched so many lives.", reports the Daily Record.

Discovery Cove, in their statement, revealed: "Our staff responded to an emergency involving a guest. Our team provided care and contacted Orange County Fire and Rescue."

Emerging details disclosed by them mentioned: "When emergency personnel arrived, they took over care and transported the guest to a nearby hospital. Out of respect for privacy of our guests, we do not provide any health information. Our thoughts are with this family."

Pointing out that Discovery Cove is a sister park of SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando, it was added that the park offers visitors an array of activities, including interactive experiences with its animals such as swimming with dolphins.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office stated: "We are in touch with the family following the death of a child in the United States, and are providing consular support during this difficult time."
