British Soap Awards 2023 announces full shortlist - and no live ceremony this year
British Soap Awards bosses have announced the full shortlist for the 2023 ceremony.
The public-voted categories are now entering the second round of voting, with the Best Leading Performer options whittled down from 25 to 5.
Coronation Street has one contender in the Leading Performer category, while EastEnders and Emmerdale have two each. For the second year running, Hollyoaks and Doctors failed to get anyone through to the second round of public voting in this category.
Other public-voted categories – Best Villain, Best Young Performer and Best British Soap – retain the same number of nominees they had in the first round of voting.
Meanwhile, the panel-voted nominees have also been announced for the first time.
And British Soap Awards chiefs have confirmed a broadcast change for this year's ceremony, which will switch back to being pre-recorded rather than airing live on a Saturday night.
An official airdate will be announced at a later point, but the ceremony has been scheduled to air in "a pre-recorded midweek primetime slot". Phillip Schofield will be the host.
The full list of nominees follow.
