Britney Spears' father Jamie has leg amputated after battle with infection - report
Britney Spears' father Jamie Spears has reportedly had his leg amputated after weeks in hospital.
Sources told TMZ on Tuesday that the pop star's dad was hospitalised for weeks with a massive infection in one of his legs.
After reportedly undergoing five unsuccessful surgeries to contain the infection, doctors decided that the leg needed to be amputated.
The 71-year-old has reportedly not been doing well since the operation a month ago.
Britney, 42, has had a difficult relationship with Jamie for many years, particularly after he became her conservator in 2008. He was removed from the position in September 2021 after she publicly accused him of abuse and mistreatment, and the conservatorship was terminated altogether two months later. There are still ongoing legal cases between Britney and Jamie relating to the arrangement.
The Toxic singer seems to be building bridges with other members of her estranged family. She reunited with her mother Lynne in Los Angeles over the weekend for her 42nd birthday and her brother Bryan was also present at the celebrations. Her younger sister Jamie Lynn was reportedly invited but unable to attend.
On Monday, the music superstar told her Instagram followers that she felt "blessed" to be reconnected with her family.
"Being embraced by family this year and knowing you can have people to trust ... well damn y'all I feel BLESSED !!! I LOVE Y'ALL SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!" she wrote.
