Britney Spears shared a dance video and a message about "freedom" following reports her dad has agreed to step down from her conservatorship.
The pop princess has been in the headlines in recent weeks over her bid to have her father Jamie Spears removed from his role in overseeing her conservatorship, and recently described her situation as "abusive" in court testimony.
However, reports in the US say that Jamie has agreed to step aside and will participate in an "orderly transition" to a new arrangement.
As the news started to circulate, Britney, 39, posted a video on Instagram showing her twirling around in shorts and a crop top.
"You can see the last dance in red top I’m very hesitant when dancing but letting go is freedom!!!!" she wrote.
"I’m not sure exactly why I’m being so cautious... it might be my left foot that was broken talking to me!!!! You can tell when I turn but hopefully I will let go thoroughly and follow through soon!!!!”
She also shared a picture of a girl with flowers in her hair, which a fan had captioned: “We’re one step closer to your freedom!!!!! #FREEBRITNEY."
Fans flocked to the comment section to share their thoughts on the latest development.
"She’s free!" declared one follower, while another wrote: "Congratulations Britney! You deserve freedom!"
Jamie has been in charge of his daughter’s estate since 2008.
He also oversaw the Toxic singer’s personal affairs but left that role in 2019.
The star’s situation was thrust into the spotlight earlier this year with the Framing Britney Spears documentary - which told the story of her conservatorship - and the rise of the #FreeBritney movement, which is supported by many celebrities.
