On July 4, the nation will go to the polls to decide who will be the next Prime Minister of the country. The Worcestershire seat of Bromsgrove will also get a new MP after Sajid Javid announced his decision to stand down after the 2024 election.

Javid had previously served as home secretary under former Prime Minister Theresa May - and in 2019 was promoted to chancellor by Boris Johnson. He made the decision to step down in 2022 having 'wrestled' with the decision 'for some time.'

A relatively safe Tory seat, the Conservatives will be hoping to retain Bromsgrove on July 4 despite the party languishing in the polls. Voters in the Worcestershire seat will have a choice of seven candidates in the upcoming election.
