Brooke Hyland Shares Reactions to Her Engagement – Featuring “Dance Moms' ”Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler, Nia Sioux
Hyland's longtime boyfriend Brian Thalman popped the question earlier this week
Brooke Hyland is being showered with love after her engagement — and her Dance Moms family is feeling all the emotion too.
In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, May 8, Hyland, 26, shared a compilation of screen recordings from FaceTime calls she made to her friends and family after her boyfriend Brian Thalman popped the question to her, and among those that she called were her former costars and teammates.
Melissa Ziegler-Gisoni, Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler’s mom, was the first Dance Moms face to appear in the video, and she had her hand covering her mouth in shock as she became visibly emotional while Hyland showed off her ring.
Melissa’s daughters were the next to appear, and in the clip, Maddie, 21, showed the phone to her sister, 19, who made a face of pure surprise at the sight of Hyland’s ring. Maddie then returned to the camera to her face and shared her shock at the news, too.
The next appearance was from Nia Sioux, who was also captured in complete shock as she picked up the FaceTime call to find Hyland showing off her engagement ring. In the clip, Sioux, 22, was wide-eyed as she covered her mouth in surprise.

Hyland also called Chloe Lukasiak, whose eyes lit up at the sight of the ring and she covered her mouth with her hand.
“A few of my people’s reactions 🥺,” she wrote in the video's caption, which was set to the instrumental audio of Billie Eilish's Barbie song, “What Was I Made For?”
Hyland's boyfriend surprised her with the proposal in Frick Park in Pittsburgh, her hometown. A small group of close family members looked down as Thalman got down on one knee and an excited Hyland said "yes" to the Sydney Perfect Fit ring, which features an 18K yellow gold band and a 3.25-carat elongated cushion diamond.
The pair celebrated afterwards with their loved ones at brunch, and told PEOPLE they're planning a larger engagement party this summer.
Hyland and Thalman met in Pittsburgh in December 2021 when she was home for Christmas.
"At the time, she was living in Austin, Texas. Her cousin, who is my close friend, introduced us to one another," he said. "We did long distance for a few months before Brooke moved back to Pittsburgh."

Her Dance Moms costars flooded the comments with love, with her sister Paige Hyland writing, "Screaming crying throwing up!" and Kalani Hilliker writing, "So happy for you!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️."
"My big sis is getting married!!!!!! ❤️❤️" Lukasiak, 22, wrote in a comment, while her mom, Christi Lukasiak, wrote, "Awe!!!!!!! Im SO HAPPY for you ❤️ I can’t believe you’re grown up enough to get married 😢❤️."
Several other moms weighed in, too, with Sioux's mom, Dr. Holly, writing, "Congratulations!!!!! My heart is bursting with joy!!!! Our Brooke is getting MARRIED!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️" and Kendall Vertes' mom Jill commenting, "Congratulations Brooke!! Such an exciting time for you and your families🥰💍💕👍🏻."

Many of the Dance Moms alums reunited recently to film a reunion special for Lifetime, which brought the Hyland sisters, Lukasiak, Vertes, Hilliker and JoJo Siwa together to reminisce on their time on the hit dance competition series.
Sioux and the Zieglers were notably missing from the special, though, and their absences were addressed by the girls, as Siwa, 20, said it was "kind of sad to see" and Vertes agreed, saying, "We would not be here without Dance Moms."
