Bruce Anderson insists he wants to finally be a Euro star under Derek McInnes at Kilmarnock after only briefly tasting continental action at Aberdeen.

The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Kilmarnock during the summer in a move that reunites him with his old Dons gaffer.

But while he barely sampled European action as a youngster, he’s hoping he can be the main man for Killie this season as they prepare to take on Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge in three weeks at Rugby Park.

A three-year stint at Livingston was highly productive for the former Aberdeen youth prospect after he bagged 24 top flight goals in West Lothian.

He’s hoping to continue finding the net in Ayrshire - including on European nights.

He said: “I can’t wait. Obviously, at Aberdeen, I was involved in quite a few matches under the manager. I wasn’t an established player and I wasn’t really that involved, coming on for five and 10 minutes here and there. I feel more a part of it here and it is something every player looks forward to.”

He got off to the perfect start to life at Killie after bagging a first-half hat-trick in a friendly against Welsh champions The New Saints.

But given the success of the Kyle Vassell-Marley Watkins partnership last term, he knows he’ll not simply be able to walk into the starting line-up.

He said: “I think coming to a new club, you just want to hit the ground running and I am delighted with how the first few weeks have gone for me.

“It’s a great dressing room and I have settled straight in. I knew most of them just playing against them and I am good mates with a few boys as well, so I always knew what type of characters were in the building.

“But it’s not until you actually come into the building that you see the togetherness of the squad and it’s been brilliant. It’s been a really easy dressing room to settle into.

“You look all over the park and there is depth everywhere. You know if you are not on your game, there’s boys ready to step in.”

He added: “I’m a goalscorer and I want to score every time I get on the pitch and, hopefully, I bring that mentality into the squad and I can play as much as I can.

“The important thing is we are all different strikers. We will all bring different qualities to the team. So, for me, I just need to get my head down and work hard and we’ll see where it takes us.

“The last three years, I have been sort of a solo striker and I am not your typical six-foot-five No.9. I think me playing alongside someone gets the best out of me. I feel I will score a lot more goals playing in a two as opposed to a one and something I am looking forward to.”

Meanwhile, it's believed that Hibs have entered the race for Ipswich Town defender Corrie Nbada. The full-back featured 37 times in all competitions last term during a loan spell at Killie, who are keen on a return.
