Bruce Willis's wife Emma Heming has hit back at a troll who accused her of grabbing her "five minutes" amid her husband's dementia diagnosis.

The Die Hard star's family shared last month that he had frontotemporal dementia (FTD), saying in a statement from Heming, the actor's ex Demi Moore and his daughters, that the "continued compassion, understanding, and respect" of fans would "enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible".

Heming has since been accused of using her husband's illness to grab the spotlight.

But she had the perfect response, telling critics: "I just saw something about me getting my 'five minutes', which is great, which means that you’re listening."

Hitting back in a video on Instagram, she said: "So, I’m going to take my five minutes and I’m going to turn it into 10 because I’m always going to advocate for my husband.

"And while I’m at it, I’m going to raise awareness around FTD and for caregivers, who are unsung heroes out there.

"And then I’m going to turn my grief and my anger and my sadness into something good around something that feels less than."

"Watch this space because I didn’t come to play," Heming added.

Captioning the clip, she wrote: "Just over here turning my five mins into 10. I’ve sat around quietly for too long and I’m so ready to be embraced by this solid and loving community my family and I find ourselves in while trying to lift them up in return. Let’s go."

Heming, Moore and their daughters shared in February that the Hollywood star was battling FTD, after an original diagnosis of aphasia.

Opening up in a moving statement, they said: "Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately.

"We know in our hearts that – if he could today – he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families."

Willis, 67, and Heming have been married since 2009 and share daughters Evelyn, eight, and Mabel, 10.

The star is also dad to Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 29, with former wife Moore.

The NHS says FTD affects the front and sides of the brain and that it "is an uncommon type of dementia that causes problems with behaviour and language".
