A burst pipe has closed the road outside a polling station in Chislehurst.

Thames Water engineers attended the leak, which was first reported on Monday, June 1, at Red Hill in Chislehurst.

Repairs have been ongoing, and work to fix the pipe was completed the following day.

However, work to repair the road and footpath is now anticipated to be complete at some point tomorrow.

Red Hill Primary School is currently acting as a polling station for the general election and will be open until 10pm today for the public to cast their votes.

A spokesperson Chislehurst Matters explained that the school is still accessible via the pavement and for those wanting to use the car park, it can still be accessed via the car park.

The road remains closed to traffic whilst work is ongoing, but one side of the footpath is still accessible to pedestrians.

Thames Water has apologised for any inconvenience.

A Thames Water spokesperson said: “On Monday 1 July, our engineers responded to a burst water mains pipe on Red Hill, Chislehurst. They completed the necessary repair work the following day and remain on site to repair the footpath and road, which they should finish tomorrow.

We’re very sorry to local residents and motorists for any disruption caused during this time.”
