A burst water main has caused significant disruption.

Despite the efforts of Southern Water the problem has become worse since it was spotted in Ditchling Road, Brighton, on Thursday morning, according to residents.

Southern Water initially blocked the left-hand lane heading downhill in Ditchling Road to try to fix the leak.

On Thursday Southern Water said: "A team is on site tonight conducting the repair. We will also be using tankers to keep customers in supply whilst the repair takes place."

However, the problem remained on Friday morning. Southern Water said it hoped to have it "resolved later this evening".

It advised customers that they “may notice short interruptions or pressure changes” to their water supply throughout the day. Those affected may also notice “minor discolouration or low pressure” once the water supply is renewed.
