New Ioniq 5s Include a Free Home Charger or Credit Hyundai
  • If you buy or lease a new 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 you're eligible for a free ChargePoint Level 2 home charger or a $400 charging credit.

  • Customers have 60 days to redeem their code for a charger and 120 days to complete a hardwired installation.

  • Hyundai supplies the two promotional options, but the automaker isn't paying for the installation of the home charger.

For some people, the lack of easily accessible public charging is a reason to skip switching to an EV. Hyundai aims to address that problem and encourage the transition into electrified driving by offering either a complimentary ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger or a $400 charging credit to all new 2025 Ioniq 5 buyers and lessees.

Of course, there's a catch or three. If opting for the charger, customers must redeem their code within 60 days and have the charger installed by a Hyundai Home service provider within 120 days after getting the vehicle. There is no way to receive the free charger without having it installed. Hyundai also only covers the cost of the charger, not the cost of installing it or the fees associated with that process.

For those who aren’t interested in that deal, already have an at-home charger, or just want to take a closer look at ChargePoint's new cut-resistant EV charging cables at a public station, 2025 Ioniq 5 customers can opt for a $400 out-of-home charging credit in lieu of the at-home unit. As with the charger, the credit must be claimed within 60 days from the vehicle's lease or purchase contract date and is good for two years after it is redeemed.

While it's unfortunate that charger installation isn't included in Hyundai's offer, it still saves $549 for Ioniq 5 buyers who would've purchased and installed one anyway. Hyundai states that a Level 2 home charger—such as the ChargePoint Home Flex it's offering—can charge a standard-range Ioniq 5 from 10 to 100 percent in five hours and 40 minutes, which is significantly slower than with a DC fast-charger. Plugging in overnight is still more convenient than stopping on the way to work, though.

There's one more thing. New Ioniq 5 customers who want to take advantage of Hyundai's offer will have to sign up for a Hyundai Home Marketplace profile where either the charger or charging credit can be selected as an option.
