Call the Midwife star reveals unfortunate costume "drama" filming wedding scenes
Call the Midwife star Helen George has revealed an unfortunate costume "drama" that occurred while filming wedding scenes.
In tonight's (February 26) highly anticipated season 12 finale, George's character Trixie Franklin will finally wed her fiancé Matthew, who is played by Olly Rix, after three years of romance.
Speaking to Radio Times, George said that, during filming for Trixie's big day, one member of the cast encountered an unfortunate wardrobe mishap, ruining a wedding costume.

Recalling a particular moment when the cast were given pizza to eat, George said that actress Megan Cusack, who plays Nancy Corrigan, spilt pizza grease on her bridesmaid costume.
"Something did go wrong on the day of filming, too. We'd been given pizzas, because everyone was starving," George said. "And poor Megan got grease all over her bridesmaid's dress. That was a drama."
While the drama of the greasy bridesmaid dress was the worst thing they encountered, George said that filming the special episode was "a long day".

"We did go over our schedule by about an hour and a half. But it was also a beautiful day. There was a real sense of occasion. And it was lovely that all the cast got to be together."
When asked if she can relate to Trixie's fastidiousness surrounding the big day, George said that she thinks most people planning a wedding could relate.
"I think it’s natural for any woman to want to get it completely right – it’s an important day in anyone's life."
Previously teasing what's to come for the couple's nuptials, George, who has played nurse Trixie on the BBC drama series since 2012, said: "I mean it's never completely smooth sailing. There's always got to be a bit of jeopardy."
Call the Midwife airs on Sunday nights on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
