Calls for speed camera on Stoke-on-Trent road where boy racers do doughnuts

Almost 200 residents are calling for a speed camera on one of Stoke-on-Trent's busiest roads. They want the speed camera on Reginald Mitchell Way, between Sandyford's KFC roundabout and the A500 junction.

It comes as the dual-carriageway is being plagued by boy racers doing doughnuts and meeting up on surrounding streets. In addition to the speed camera, residents want regular Staffordshire Police weekend patrols and dispersal orders to remove boy racers.

City councillor Chandra Kanneganti has started the online petition calling for action from Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The petition has so far been signed by 177 people and ends on Sunday.

Mr Kanneganti said: "Reginald Mitchell Way has become a dangerous race track for reckless drivers, with numerous cars speeding and spectators gathering regularly. Despite multiple police interventions over the past few months, incidents continue to occur, putting local residents at extreme risk.

"We urgently need the installation of speed cameras, regular police patrols at weekends, and dispersal orders to ensure the safety of our community. We need urgent actions before an unfortunate, inevitable incident happens."
