FERRY sailings between Ardrossan and Arran are being redirected to Inverclyde today due to weather forecasts of high winds.

Route operators CalMac said the sailing scheduled to leave Brodick on the island at 1.55pm on Thursday has been delayed until 2.10pm and it will now arrive in Gourock instead of North Ayrshire.

The ferry will then depart Gourock at 5pm and arrive in Brodick at 7.20pm.

As a result of the changes, the 3.20pm ferry from Ardrossan and the 4.40pm sailing from Brodick have been cancelled.

According to the Met Office, heavy rain is expected by lunchtime along with wind gusts of up to 46mph this evening.

Earlier this morning, CalMac said services on the Dunoon to Gourock and Wemyss Bay to Rothesay routes would also be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice due to adverse weather and strong winds.

A single-vessel timetable is in place for the Dunoon to Gourock route, with the ferry operating hourly at five past the hour from Gourock and 25 to the hour from Dunoon.
