Cambridge restaurant known for its imaginative dishes named amongst best in Europe

A two Michelin-star restaurant in Cambridge has landed on a list that celebrates the very best of classical European cuisine. Midsummer House has been named one of the best classical European restaurants by Opinionated About Dining.

The restaurant, known for its seasonal, imaginative dishes, offers an ever-changing tasting menu presented to diners one dish at a time. It is housed in a quaint Victorian villa overlooking grazing cows on Midsummer Common.

Midsummer House, classed as contemporary British, ranked 124, out of 388 restaurants on the list based in countries including France, Italy, Denmark, Germany and Spain.

Opinionated About Dining says it is the only dining survey that factors experience into its rating system. They say: "As an example, our 2019 results were bhigh-qualityased on over 200,000 reviews contributed by more than 6,000 people who registered for the survey.

"Our dining survey data powers our annual Lists, Region Guides and we have just launched OAD Travel with access to some of the most difficult to book restaurants."

Earlier this year, Midsummer House celebrated 20 years of earning two Michelin stars. There are 48 restaurants in the UK that also feature on the list, most of them based in London.

Midsummer House, under the guidance of Chef Patron Daniel Clifford, is no stranger to praise over the decades. Mr Clifford opened the lauded establishment in 1998 and it won its first Michelin star in 2002. Its second followed in 2004. In 2014, it also gained five AA Rosettes.

Midsummer House brings guests all the luxury and high quality fine dining you can expect from a Michelin-star restaurant. Diners enjoy the elegant and modern food in a welcoming dining room in the conservatory of the villa.
