“If you choose to come to our area, you are in for something great to happen in your life.”

These are the words of Cleethorpes hair salon owner Sharon Bett, who moved from London to North East Lincolnshire – and has not looked back. Having launched a successful business and settled here, Sharon is now one of a whole host of business leaders and owners who are supporting a new North East Lincolnshire Council campaign to encourage fellow professionals to “Find Your Space” in the area.

Today (Tuesday, May 21) marks the launch of the major drive to show people from around the UK the many benefits of living and working in the borough, with a dedicated new web page showcasing the wealth of opportunities available. Its recruitment section is already supported by local businesses and organisations – all of them wanting to attract people to work for them.

Those already on board include a leading regional law firm, career providers, a major energy company, colleges, a well-known electrical firm, an accountancy company and a popular restaurant and hotel. Lincolnshire’s largest law firm, Wilkin Chapman Solicitors, is on board.

Ella Fearnley, of Wilkin Chapman, said: “We offer an outstanding range of career opportunities in North East Lincolnshire and the wider region, from apprenticeships and traineeships to senior associate and partner positions. Our firm provides comprehensive career pathways, a generous benefits package, and a vibrant, sociable work environment. We're thrilled to support this campaign, highlighting the region and its fantastic career prospects.”

Heather Dutton, of Stallingborough Grange, said: “The site looks fabulous. There’s so much to shout about with this whole area I’m always drumming on to people from away the many positives we have here.”

The web page catches the eye with a new “Love” branding for North East Lincolnshire and with digital “postcards” that celebrate the area. Physical cards are also available for partners in the campaign to share.

Find Your Space goes on to shout the borough’s benefits from the rooftops, such as:

  • House prices - the average price of a good family home is £151,000. In wider England, it is £286,000, so earnings stretch much further

  • Rentals - the average house rental cost is £565, as opposed to £925 in wider England

  • Location – the local towns are sandwiched between a natural coastline that is a haven for birds and wildlife, and the scenic Lincolnshire Wolds

  • Getting around – more than 40 per cent of people travel less than 5km to work, compared to 23 per cent in wider England, (ONS 2021). Over 90 per cent of residents travel 15 minutes or less to school, (DfT 2019)

  • Schools: 87 per cent of schools are graded “outstanding” or “good” by Ofsted

Cllr Philip Jackson, North East Lincolnshire Council leader, said: “To grow, North East Lincolnshire needs to support its own, but also bring others here who have the expertise and skills that are needed. Indeed, we need to spread the message - that we live in a great place with the coast, the Wolds countryside, and the business opportunities all here.”
