With the summer months ahead of us, families will likely be looking for a short break or a holiday.

If you're just going for a night or two, most people don't want to travel too far and there's a place 45 minutes from Manchester which is proving popular with mums and dads.

Stanley Villa Farm Fishing and Camping is an award-winning family-run glamping site set in the beautiful countryside just 15 minutes from Blackpool and has cosy pods and bell tents for families to stay in.

Some of them have their own hot tub - including the new Woods View Pods, bookable for dates from May 1 onwards.

Every accommodation comes with its own fire pit and each tent has a wood burning stove.

But it's the activities on the site, based in Weeton With Preese, Fylde, that often prove the biggest draw for those with kids.

There's a four-acre carp lake well stocked with carp up to 20lbs+ and campers can book day tickets to fish.

There are also farm animals on the site and families are able to join the feeding times and talks with the sheep and chickens.

And the large grassy play area in front of the pods is where children usually gather to play cricket, rounders, swing ball and more.

Plenty of sweet treats are on offer too, with an onsite shop selling local ice cream, hot chocolates and marshmallows to toast on those fire pits.

Disposable barbecues are welcome on the site, but on certain dates, usually Friday nights throughout the summer, it has its own food van serving up fish and chips. Dates confirmed so far include April 20, 27 and May 4 and 25, although more will be added soon.

Dogs are welcome in the pods but not the tents, unless guide dogs, and must be well behaved and kept on a lead.

Hundreds of people have left positive reviews of the site on Google, including one from just last week, saying: "I stayed for one night with my son in the pod with hot tub. It was extremely spacious and very clean. The hot tub was also a great addition to the stay. Well worth booking.

"We also fished for the day. The staff could not do enough to make sure all your needs are catered for. Very helpful and polite. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a night away in the area."

Another, who visited over Easter, said: "We love it!!! Amazing time as always. The team go above and beyond to help! The chippy van was fantastic, the kids loved the egg hunt. And the weather was fab! See you in May."

Pods cost from around £55 a night off-peak and tents from £85. Bookings can be made with a £49 deposit and the balance payable six weeks before arrival. Visit the website for more.
