Manchester United are closing in on their next wonderkid signing - with 15-year-old Camron Mpofu expected to join the club from Reading.

MEN Sport reported on Thursday morning that United were close to the signing, although they would have to navigate their way through a Premier League process before finalising a deal for the teenager.

Should he sign, Mpofu will be the latest name to join the club's academy. Silva Mexes, the son of former Cardiff and West Brom striker Rob Earnshaw, has already joined the from Ipswich and Australian James Overy has also arrived.

Jack and Tyler Fletcher both arrived from Manchester City last summer, with Harry Amass joining from Watford. Jack Fletcher and Amas were both integral members of the side that won the Premier League Northern Division, the National Final and the Premier League Cup last season.

Here, MEN Sport provides you with the lowdown on Mpofu's short career so far.

Who is Camron Mpofu?

The forward has represented Scotland and England at international level. Having made his debut for Scotland Under 15s against Spain in April, he was one of just three inclusions from English club academies.

He moved to England from Scotland with his family in 2021, joining Reading's academy. He is the latest player to break through the Royals' academy and secure moves elsewhere.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Mpofu's family are expected to relocate with the striker to the north-west as part of his move to United.
