Capitol Police give all-clear after suspicious package

U.S. Capitol Police gave an all-clear Wednesday after earlier saying that they were investigating a suspicious package near the Lower West Terrace of the building.

Officers first reached the scene at about 10:30 a.m., USCP said, advising staffers and visitors to avoid the area.

Police cleared any potential threat and reopened the area at about noon.

Multiple roads were closed in the vicinity, including Pennsylvania Avenue between First and Third Streets NW and First Street between Constitution Avenue NW and Maryland Avenue SW.
