Plans have been lodged for a new care home in Ellesmere Port that will create up to 60 jobs. The proposed 66-bed facility for older people is earmarked for undeveloped land at the Cheshire Oaks Business Park on Lloyd Drive, near to the outlet village and Marks & Spencer store.

The three-storey building would include a range of facilities such as a café, bar, salon and cinema room. A total of 25 parking spots would also be provided, with accessible, EV charging and cycle spaces all being made available.

According to the plans put forward to Cheshire West and Chester Council by the applicant LNT Care Developments, all bar 14 per cent of the new roles created by the facility would be full-time. Staff would work on on "a rotational shift pattern" with a maximum number of 24 employees on site at any one time.

The planning application states: "The proposed care home is a purpose-built three storey 66-bedroom residential care facility for older people with associated access, parking and landscaping. It will be of high quality, traditional construction, with ambitious sustainability/renewable energy goals.

"The care homes built by the applicant are designed with residents' comfort at heart, and to provide excellent day-to-day amenities and facilities that reflect modern day domestic comforts. This includes main lounges/dining rooms, a café, quiet lounges/family rooms, a garden room, a TV/cinema room, a sky bar, clinic and hair salon.

"These facilities are particularly important for residents, who will rely upon easy and amenable access, regular activity, entertainment and familiar settings to maintain a good quality of life and well-being. The secure landscaped garden areas will provide the main external amenity space for the respective elements of care."

The applicant adds that "the site has been identified as suitable for a new care home and has the benefit of an extant permission". Previous plans lodged in 2021 for a care home for older people offering mental health rehabilitation were approved the following year.
