Caroline Flack arrested and charged with assault
TV presenter Caroline Flack has been charged with assault after reports of a man being attacked.
Flack, 40, was charged on Friday with assault by beating, the Metropolitan Police said.
She was arrested after an incident at approximately 5.25am on Thursday December 12 after reports of a man assaulted, according to the police statement. The man, who was not named by police, was not seriously injured.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed Flack will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday December 23.
A spokesman for Caroline Flack told PA news agency in a statement: "We confirm that police attended Caroline's home following a private domestic incident.
"She is co-operating with the appropriate people to resolve matters. We will not be making any further comment for legal reasons."
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told Yahoo: "We were called yesterday (Thursday 12 December) at 5.28am to a residential address in Islington. We treated two people at the scene and took one person to hospital.”
Flack is known for hosting TV programmes including The X Factor, The Xtra Factor and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'s spin-off show. In 2014 she won Strictly Come Dancing and since 2015 she has hosted ITV2 reality show Love Island and its accompanying programme Aftersun.
The winter series of Love Island is due to start in January in South Africa, with Flack back on hosting duties.
ITV declined to comment.
The presenter is believed to share a home with 27-year-old boyfriend Lewis Burton, a professional tennis player.
Burton has been dating Flack, 40, since the summer and were first photographed together in Ibiza.
Burton confirmed their relationship on his Instagram account in August sharing a photo of themselves together not long after the most recent series of Love Island came to an end.
Flack broke up with her previous boyfriend rugby player Danny Cipriani in May after dating for eight weeks.
In November, Burton wished Flack a happy birthday calling her his “little pocket rocket”.
In 2018, Flack called off her engagement to The Apprentice contestant Andrew Brady.
“I absolutely loved being engaged [to Andrew] but things didn’t pan out and that caused me pain; of course it did,” she later told The Mail On Sunday’s You magazine.
“I’m a person not a caricature. It was a sad time when I broke off my engagement and I was hurting. I coped the way I always do – I cried in private and did my grieving behind closed doors.”
