Holby City star Davood Ghadami is returning as Eli Ebrahimi for Casualty's special episode celebrating 75 years of the NHS.

The episode, which airs this Saturday (July 15), will see Eli assisting Stevie as they treat motorbike rider Amartya, who has life-threatening injuries following a devastating accident.

Eli's last appearance on screen was in the Holby series finale close to 18 months ago.

In addition to the episode following the story of Amartya and showcasing the efforts that happen across the emergency medical services every day, real-life medical professionals will provide commentary as the show breaks format.

Teasing the event, Casualty executive producer Jon Sen said in a statement earlier this month: "To mark the 75th anniversary we wanted to shine a light on the awe-inspiring work of the doctors, nurses and paramedics who work in the NHS.

"The episode tells a powerful story that dramatises the skill and immense team-work that goes into helping one patient, Amartya, as he fights for his life.

"We were thrilled when real medical professionals agreed to be interviewed to offer an insight into the highs and lows of dealing with these cases on a daily basis.

"In this one-off episode the audience gains a truly authentic glimpse behind the curtain to understand what it feels like to stand in the shoes of NHS professionals."

Earlier this year, Davood revealed that he has kept in touch with a number of his former EastEnders co-stars including Lacey Turner, Diane Parish, and James Bye.

Casualty will air the special standalone episode on Saturday, July 15 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
