Cat Deeley paused proceedings during the latest episode of This Morning as she issued an apology after sparking outrage over what was described as a 'stupid' joke during a previous show.

The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime programme on Tuesday (June 18) after causing complaints from viewers during Monday's (June 17) show. At the start of the week, Cat and co-host Ben Shephard were also getting ready to welcome pop star Meghan Trainor to the sofa to discuss her single, her life with husband Daryl Sabara and juggling work with being a mum.

Prior to the presenters sitting down with the 30-year-old, they teased the upcoming interview while her first hit single All About That Bass played in the background.

As the talk show returned from its break, Cat was dancing to the tune with her co-star looking at her strangely. "Nothing to see here," she joked as she continued to dance. Ben asked: "You alright? OK", with her stopping and smiling: “Yeah I’m fine. Just having a seizure. Welcome back.”

Ben then uncomfortably laughed at her joke before she continued to tease the interview with Meghan, with the camera turning to the singer waiting behind the scenes. But the comment didn't go unnoticed by fans though with one even asking for an apology from the presenter.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: "Wow @catdeeley @thismorningchoose your words more wisely! You really think seizures are funny!? What a stupid thing to say and then snigger at!" Another commented: "Did Cat Deeley actually just say that! This Morning, not so sure people who actually do have seizures will appreciate such a stupid comment!"

Now, Cat has issued an apology as she returned to the show alongside former Good Morning Britain star Ben. She said following the opening of the show before moving onto the first segment, which was the daily 'This Morning's View' in which they're joined by two guests to discuss the latest news and hot topics: "First of all, I just wanted to apologise to anyone who was offended yesterday when I made a light-hearted comment about my dancing style.

"It really wasn't supposed to cause any upset to anybody but I can see why that might have been the case. So I do apologise and I'm very sorry if it upset you," she added as Ben chipped in: "It would never be our intention, would it?" Cat added: "It didn't come from that place at all," before Ben moved them on.
