CBB's Louis Walsh says Cheryl Cole's assault scandal not forgotten

Celebrity Big Brother star Louis Walsh has said Cheryl Cole's assault conviction has not been forgotten.

The former X Factor judge, who managed Girls Aloud after mentoring them on reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, was discussing the band's failure to break the US on the ITV reality show. Music manager Walsh opened up about the incident which saw Cheryl found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a nightclub toilet attendant in January 2003. He said he thought Cheryl, who was 19 at the time, was "unprepared" when the incident happened.

What, how, and why?

Walsh was in the kitchen of the Big Brother house with Broadway star Marisha Wallace, TV presenter Zeze Millz and former This Morning host Fern Britton. Wallace said she had never heard of Girls Aloud and Walsh lamented the girlband never becoming successful outside of the UK, saying they were "great looking" and had good music.

Millz then brought up Cheryl's assault charges. The 40-year-old singer, dancer and former X Factor judge was charged with assault and racially aggravated assault of toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa. She was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm but cleared of racially aggravated assault, and sentenced to 120 hours of community service. She was also ordered to pay Amogbokpa £500 in compensation as well as £3,000 prosecution costs.

Millz said: "She gave her a black eye and everything. It was massive. It was a big thing." Walsh said: "It's true." Wallace asked if Cheryl had been drunk. Walsh replied: "Probably just unprepared." Britton added: "That was not good." Millz went on: "But considering that happened it's gone away very nicely. She still managed to thrive."

Walsh said: "It's not forgotten. She had very good PR. They did their best."

Later in the garden reality star David Potts asked Walsh if Cheryl is nice. Walsh, 71, replied: "Yes she is. She's not perfect but she's a good girl. She's had a lot of negativity. But I like her. She doesn't know that. But I like her, more than she likes me."

What else happened on Celebrity Big Brother?

Evicted housemate Lauren Simon made a surprise return to the house.

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star appeared as Lord Chief Justice Big Brother in a court-themed task, which saw Wallace stand trial for being a "game player".

The other housemates cheered Simon on her entrance, wearing a judge's wig and robes.

Simon ruled: "Marisha you are a very determined young lady and I do like you. You do like the sound of your own voice, because of this I can see through that mask of yours. You have admitted it. You are playing a game. I find you guilty."
