CCHS names valedictorian, salutatorian

Feb. 19—Senior students in the Class of 2024 at Cumberland County High School were honored last week with a Latin Honors celebration and the official announcement of the class valedictorian and salutatorian was made.

Valedictorian for the class of 2024 is Grace Gee and salutatorian is Isabella Cross. Both were met with loud cheers when their names were announced during the academic celebration.

Valedictorian and salutatorian have the two highest numerical averages of the final course grades in the top half of the Summa Cum Laude graduating class.

Each of the top two must meet the benchmarks on the ACT or equivalent on the SAT. ACT scores at a minimum of 18 English, 22 math, 22 reading and 23 science.

Cumberland County Director of Schools William Stepp joined the celebration and congratulated the top students.

In determining the academic recognition, the Cumberland County school system are using the Latin system based on local weighted GPA.

Seniors graduating Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.25 and above include Jacob Atkinson, Sarah Croinex, Isabella Cross, Cheyenne Emery, Hallie Evans, Grace Gee, Kalea Gunter, Jayce Hall, LeBron Harris, Damian Lino, Kelly McCartt, Megh Patel, Luke Poore, Corbin Seiber, Frankie Shao, Braden Templeton, Stephanie Turner, Audrey Wellman.

Seniors graduating Magna Cum Laude with a GPA from 4.0 to 4.24 include Ariel Baker, Jalynn Baldwin, Thorson Bray, Grace Christian, Lexi Christian, Kaylee Dulac, Analiese Filler, Anna Fusco, Ivan Gutierrez, Angelina Haygood, Justin Kerley, Samuel Lowe, Clay Mullen, Raelynn Pacheco, Tuff Parham, Pari Patel, Breanna Stokes, Marcus VanWerry, Kellie Wilson, Lauren Wilson.

Seniors graduating Cum Laude with a GPA from 3.75 to 3.99 include Ethan Benjamin, Nolan Carter, Jada Davis, Caelie Eaton, Haley Hedgecoth, Jake Hedgecoth, Emma Hill, Taz Hopkins, Kaylee Hopkins, Mitchell Lewis, Cayden McElhaney, Molly McGouirk, Zayda Minnifee, Kaylee Norris, Ethan Roberts, Marbella Rodriguez, Kiley Russian, Annika Scarbrough, Alex Smith, Harmoni Smith, Josiah Sparks, Douglass Staehler, Bryson Standridge, Kara Tales, Olivia Tinch, Jazmine Troglin, Vince Vitor, Allen Woody.
