CCTV appeal after train passenger has drink poured over them and is attacked

Police have made a CCTV appeal after a train passenger was drenched with a drink and then beaten up. The incident happened on board a train between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road.

Today they issued an image of a woman they wish to speak to in connection with the assault. At around 7.30pm on Thursday June 13th the victim was sat alone on the train when another person approached from behind and poured the contents of a can over the victim before moving toward the doors.

In a statement British Transport Police said: "The victim followed the individual and attempted to stop them from leaving the train and was punched and thrown to the floor by them. Officers believe the woman in the CCTV image may have information which could help with their investigation."
