Multiple CCTV images from an armed robbery has been released by police. A masked man, armed with a knife, attempted to steal money from a security guard at a Sainsbury's store in Penzance around 10.20am this morning, Thursday, June 20.

Officers were alerted to the armed robbery on Jelbert Way. It was reported that a masked man approached a security van, grabbed bags of cash from the guard and fled the scene on a moped.

The man is described as over 6ft tall, wearing black clothing, a balaclava, and a black bike helmet. The vehicle on which he escaped was described as a small black moped with a black and red box on the back.

Police are urging anyone who sees a man or bike matching these descriptions not to approach but to call 999 immediately. Officers are also asking anyone who was in the area and has dash cam footage or any relevant information to come forward.

A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police has urged the public to not speculate on social media. It said: "Please do not speculate on social media but report any relevant information to police."
