CCTV released after man seriously injured in Edinburgh city centre street attack

Police have released CCTV footage after a man was left seriously injured in a street attack in Edinburgh city centre.

Emergency crews were called to the violent incident near Victoria Street in Grassmarket after receiving the alarm at 5pm on Friday, March 22. Officers attended and a 44-year-old man was found injured.

He was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. His current condition is unknown.

Meanwhile, officers investigating the attack say inquiries remain ongoing. They have released CCTV footage of a man who they wish to speak to as part of their investigations.

The man in the image is described as being white, of a slim build, around 5ft 10in, aged 18 to 25 and has short brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a turquoise hoody with matching jogging bottoms and trainers.

Detective Constable Paul Henderson said: "I would urge the man in the images, or anyone who has information relating to him, to contact police as soon as possible.
