'Celebrity Gogglebox' to feature Rylan Clark, Nick Grimshaw and Paul Sinha for Pride 50th anniversary

Celebrity Gogglebox is set to feature Rylan Clark, Nick Grimshaw and Paul Sinha in a special episode to mark the 50th anniversary of Pride.

The TV commentary show, which runs a celebrity version usually as part of Stand Up To Cancer, will this time be welcoming in some famous faces as part of Channel 4's Pride 50th anniversary line-up.

It will see TV presenter Clark and his mum Linda, radio DK Grimshaw and his niece Liv, and The Chase star Sinha and his husband Oliver settle into their sofas to give their views on the week's TV.

Further names are due to be announced for the special episode in Pride's landmark year, with the annual Pride month celebrations in June.

Viewers can also look forward to some compilation episodes of the most memorable LGBTQ+ contributors to appear on two of the channel's other big entertainment hits, Naked Attraction and First Dates.

Two documentaries have been announced to air around the anniversary of the first UK Gay Pride Rally to be held, which was on 1 July, 1972.

50 Years of Pride will look at the history of the movement in the UK and hear from some of those involved in it, while April Ashley is about the life of the trailblazing trans woman who died last year aged 86, looking at her landmark divorce case and her MBE for services to equality.

Later in the year, another documentary Outed: George Michael and the Fight for Freedom will look at the late singer's outing in 1998 and hear from other public figures who were outed by the media about the impact on their lives.

Louisa Compton, head of Channel 4 news, current affairs, specialist factual and sport who is overseeing the Pride season, said: "Channel 4 has been responsible for more outstanding LGBTQ+ content over its 40 years than any other public service broadcaster - often commissioning content others wouldn’t touch, from award-winning dramas It’s A Sin, Queer As Folk, and Brookside to innovative factual stories including Football's Coming Out, Genderquake, and Hollyoaks: Gay Dads Forever.

"It only seems fitting that at this important moment for LGBTQ+ history in the UK we do what we’ve always done, double down on our commitment to agenda-setting programming with exciting new commissioning and All 4 firsts.

"The announcement today is only the start of the Channel’s year-round Pride celebration – plenty more to come in due course."
