New Celebrity Gogglebox star announced as another takes a break

Celebrity Gogglebox has revealed an exciting new face on the couch. The Channel 4 favourite came back this month with a host of familiar faces including Mel B, Shaun Ryder, Rylan Clark and Jane McDonald.

Scottish singer Lulu is trading the recording studio for the sofa as the newest addition to Gogglebox. However, she will be sitting next to a more familiar face.

She'll be with This Morning's beloved Gyles Brandreth who is making a comeback as he discusses the week's TV. However, his regular partner, veteran actress Sheila Hancock, is taking a break from filming, with a sixties pop icon joining him tonight.

Lulu is familiar to all as someone who has been a UK star for more than six decades. Real name Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie, she was born in Stirlingshire and was singing before the age of 13.

Aged 14, she received the stage name "Lulu" from her future manager Marion Massey, who commented: "Well, all I know is that she's a real lulu of a kid".

In August 2017, Lulu's family history was the subject of an episode in the UK series Who Do You Think You Are? The research showed that her mother had been brought up by another family.

The investigation into her genealogy showed that Lulu's maternal grandparents had different religions. Her grandfather Hugh Cairns was a Catholic and her grandmother, Helen Kennedy, was a Protestant.
