Celebrity MasterChef 2024 line-up and the stars who have already gone home
A new group of celebrities have entered the BBC show's kitchen
Celebrity MasterChef has returned for its 19th edition, with a new batch of famous faces trying their best to impress the judges and make it in one of the most competitive kitchens on TV.
A spin-off of the BBC’s ever-popular MasterChef — which celebrated its 20th series earlier this year — this special edition may boast celebrity contestants but it isn't any easier. Throughout six intense weeks, 20 celebs are being put through their paces and challenged to whip up dishes that impress even the toughest critics.
The fun starts with four weeks of heats delivered across three episodes, where hopefuls are invited to survive the dreaded Under The Cloche challenge before creating a two-course dinner party menu. From there they’ll face former champions and finalists in the quarter finals.
Those who make it through the heats will graduate to the semis and final week where they must up their game to make it through a brand new pizza round, create an opulent dish for the British Pullman Train and something delicious that’ll raise eyebrows on the Chef’s Table. As if that wasn’t enough, they’ll also have the tricky task of designing a dish that they wouldn’t like to eat.
So who is taking part? And who has gone home already?
Who has left Celebrity MasterChef 2024?
The first heat has seen radio and TV presenter Snoochie Shy, Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Craig Doyle from This Morning, radio star Edith Bowman and Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby attempting to showcase their culinary skills.
Some have risen to the challenge but others have floundered in the face of the tough tasks. There have been some cuts already, with three wannabe cooks sent packing.
Edith Bowman
Radio and TV star Edith Bowman was the latest celeb to get the chop.
Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace struggled to make their decision after Bowman, who is known for her stints on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 Music, served up a “delicious” carpaccio with what Wallace said was a “beautiful” herb crust. But in the end they thought she could have been more ambitious with her dishes at this stage of the competition.
“I’ve had a ball,” she said as she left. “I am gutted to be going home but I think I have taken loads away from the whole experience. It has been a real inspiration.”
Charlotte Crosby
Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby came a cropper when the judges found fault with her gnocchi.
But some viewers were actually rather pleased to see her go, as they said they had found her to be on the loud side and thought she was shouting a lot as she created her dishes.
Crosby, who is also known for being on Celebrity Big Brother and her own programme, The Charlotte Show, said as she left: “This experience is one I’ll remember until the day I die. I’ve learned some new skills and met some really good people so you can’t be sad about that, can you?”
Snoochie Shy
BBC Radio 1Xtra star Snoochie Shy was the first celeb to get her marching orders, after failing to impress judges Torode and Wallace. She opted to make a curry in two different rounds, leaving the judges wondering about her other skills. They then decided her peach crumble was on the dry side.
“It is sad to go home but I know a lot of disasters happened in that kitchen so I knew I was going!” the former I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star said as she left.
“I am going to go home and have a glass of wine and put my feet up!”
