Celtic dressing room knows Elena Sadiku would be talking RUBBISH if she didn't give them pelters

Celtic skipper Kelly Clark insists Elena Sadiku was well within her rights to give the players pelters after last weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers.

And she hopes it’s the boot up the backside the Hoops need ahead of Monday's SWPL title showdown with Rangers. Scotland star Clark said: “I don’t think Elena said anything to us that we didn’t know ourselves. As professional footballers you don’t need told that you have played badly. You know yourself. We very quickly had to dust ourselves off and we’ve done that.

“Elena could have said last weekend that we were unlucky to lose and we would all have known that she was talking rubbish. We knew ourselves that we weren’t good enough and there was nothing that she said publicly that wasn’t discussed in the changing room after the game.”

Celtic followed that up with a draw against Glasgow City on Wednesday. With Rangers then beating Hearts it means that it’s honours even at the top ahead of the meeting at Broadwood.

Celtic have a superior goal difference of 13 with four games to go. And Clark insists the midweek draw changed nothing about their preparations. "We have four massive games to go,” said Clark. “It is about having the same approach to all of them. I know people will be looking at it and saying that this is the decider but I wouldn’t be surprised if that isn’t how it plays out. It might sound boring but it is a game at a time. You look too far ahead and you will stumble.

“We know that we have a massive 90 minutes ahead of us against Rangers and then we will see what happens from there. ”

Meanwhile, Rangers midfielder Rachel Rowe insists the Ibrox side will take a massive confidence boost from last weekend’s win over Celtic into tomorrow’s meeting. She said: “Playing for a club like Rangers comes with winning trophies and leagues year in, year out. That is the expectation.

“We have lacked a bit of consistency lately but last Saturday’s game will boost us right back up.”
